Old Finsbury Town Hall wedding photographer – London wedding venue
One of the best things about being a London wedding photographer is meeting people like Annie & Chris. Not only are they lovely, but they had a vision of their London wedding which led to one of the most unique wedding days I have had the pleasure to photograph.
I started with Chris at their flat in SW9, where all the groomsmen spent quite a bit of time sorting their bow ties! We travelled by tube to Covent Garden, taking lots of shots along the way. Though I don’t do many set up shots, preferring a more natural approach, I particularly like the shot of all the boys in front of the Oval tube sign. I left Chris & travelled to where Annie was getting ready at The Zetter Townhouse Boutique hotel. There I found Annie & her bridesmaids finalising details of the seating plan for The Lyric Theatre as well as enjoying a bit of fizz! The room suited the occasion perfectly. It also had the added benefit of the balcony where I was able to some shots of all of them together before I left.
Arriving backstage at The Lyric Theatre was great fun. I’d already visited about a month before with Annie to have a good look around & have a chat through the timings & arrangements, but today was to be show time & the atmosphere was exciting. My main concern was getting around the theatre for all the shots I wanted. I shouldn’t have worried, because of the lighting I was almost totally in the shadows & was able to move around easily & surreptitiously. The ceremony itself was great fun & very moving. Amongst the “acts” were Annie’s father & his two sisters singing, Chris’s father & mother doing a recital as well as an amazing choir singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. Annie & Chris looked like they enjoyed every minute of it!
After The Lyric, we headed north to Old Finsbury Town Hall. Annie, Chris & I headed to the small park in Wilmington Square. There we did some shots of just the two of them. It also gave them some much needed time to themselves, albeit with me shooting away in the background!
After the reception in the Council Chamber, we headed in to the Great Hall of the Old Finsbury Town Hall. Annie & Chris had decked it all out beautifully. The food was excellent, followed by some impromptu sing alongs with the pianist, which made for some great photo opportunities. Only to be expected if you have a wedding with so many performers as guests!
Annie & Chris started the evening with their first dance. Having shot that, there was still plenty going on all around the hall. As I left, I could still hear everything going on as I headed down the road. I’d have loved to have stayed for a drink & a dance, but until I get the memory cards from my cameras downloaded & backed up on three separate hard drives, I can’t relax!
Thanks to so many people who helped me & were so lovely to me on the day. In particular I’d like to thank Tim Nixon. Tim not only helped me with group shots & various other shots, but very kindly offered to carry my bag while we were on the tube so I could take photos more easily.
This wedding was shot at a wonderful London wedding venue
