Sussex wedding photographer
It’s surprisingly rare for me to get to shoot a beach wedding as a Sussex wedding photographer, so when Victoria & David asked me to shoot their wedding at St John the Baptist in Findon Village & Worthing Sailing Club, I jumped at the chance. Not only are you unlikely to meet a kinder & more generous couple, but the locations meant I was sure to get some beautiful light & some wonderful wedding photography backdrops. Because the coast faces south, the light comes in off the water giving a fantastic “sparkly” light which gives great skin tones & clarity. Taking Victoria & David on to the beach for some shots of just the two of them meant I was able to use the light to full advantage & we took our time getting some really intimate & relaxed wedding photographs. I try not to pose couples for these types of shots, it’s really the only time of the day apart from the group shots, that I’m controlling anything as a wedding photographer, but even then I just got Victoria & David into situations they felt totally comfortable in & then floated round them taking photos as they chatted & relaxed. The energy between a couple just after they’ve got married is really amazing, so not to use it would be crazy.
The light in the sailing club was great too as they have huge great windows looking out to sea, I used all that wonderful light during the meal, speeches & when everyone just relaxed after the meal in the club & out on the balcony. Guests were able to head out on to the beach or just relax in a chair in the sun. The whole day had a particularly relaxed & intimate feel. The evening light & the cool breeze that blew across the balcony meant for a lovely evening with the beautiful warm light spilling across the beach & the club. The band struck up and I was able to catch some great dancing before I headed off down the beach leaving the sound of laughter in the distance.
