Buxted Park Hotel Wedding Photographer
I’ve photographed weddings at Buxted Park Hotel a few times and it really is a wonderful Sussex venue. Not only does it have a character all of its own, but it has great light throughout the rooms, even though they are all quite distinct in their own character. The orangery in particular has fabulous light streaming in through the glass roof. Whatever time of year the wedding is, the light in that room is wonderful for a Sussex wedding photographer like myself to work with. If I can work exclusively with natural light at a wedding, then I will. At Buxted Park this has always been the case because of the great light.
Kelly and Amy’s Sussex wedding
I first met Kelly and Amy over Skype, but it was when we visited Buxted Park Hotel together to go through the timings for their day that I really got to know them better. I have to hand it to Kelly, her organisation skills are second to none. She actually had a lot of the information I needed to hand that most couples send to me closer to their day! They were really lovely to spend time with and I knew I was going to love photographing their wedding day.
Relaxed Sussex Summer Wedding
The day itself didn’t disappoint. Kelly and Amy were so relaxed, both smiling their way through the day enjoying not just the day, but very obviously each others company too. Taking the two of them away for some wedding photographs really was just a case of pointing them in the right direction and letting them enjoy the short time apart from their guests to catch up with each other while I floated round them getting great shots in the wonderful parkland surrounds of Buxted Park Hotel.
An Emotional Start to Their Wedding
The start to the day was great for me, there was a lot of emotion, particularly with their dads, providing me with loads of opportunities for great wedding photographs. Coordinating getting photographs of both Kelly and Amy going down to the ceremony was tricky, but worked well because of the time we’d put into planning how that was to work. As at every wedding, things changed a bit on the day, but because of Kelly’s great attention to detail in the planning, everything went off without a hitch.
Beautiful Sussex Wedding
The day was so relaxed, I particularly enjoyed the time in between the meal and the dancing as everyone drank and laughed. I was able to wander around getting some great shots of everyone enjoying themselves as well as a couple of intimate shots of Kelly and Amy together when they thought no one was looking!
Amy’s rap during the speeches was a stand out moment, and their Lego cake was fantastic. I also got to spend the day working with my favourite wedding videographer, Ioannis from Reel Emotion.
