Touching Wedding Moment
Why I love this Wedding Photograph
This is one of those touching wedding moments I see so often as a wedding photographer. Moments that are hardly noticed & yet are more important than so many that are. It’s very easy to skip over this picture thinking it’s just another shot of a guest chatting. That hand on Victor’s arm says so much about her relationship with the groom. A moment of acknowledgement of that & also of support on such an important day for him. To me this is the best thing about great wedding photography, not just documenting the day, recording everyone that was there & what went on, important as that is, but also catching those moments that are fleeting, that tell a much deeper story about their lives & how they got to where they are now.
Victor will have talked & met a lot of people on his wedding day. Some will be important, some less so, the body language of each of them tells you a lot about their relationship with him. I also think that when Victor looks through his wedding photographs in five, ten even twenty years time, shots like these will be the ones that actually give him an emotional reaction, these will be the ones that he will treasure as the most important, even though they might not seem so right now.
Harry & Victor’s London wedding was very much geared up around having plenty of time to chat to guests. Even before the ceremony they were standing at the entrance to welcome people as they arrived. It helps that The ICA is a venue with great flow to it meaning guests are generally around the same areas all the time, giving everyone plenty of time to see everyone they want to chat to. The balcony’s are always full of people chatting overlooking The Mall.
I love this wedding photograph for it’s simplicity & meaning. I hope you enjoy it.
