I’ve never started a Sussex wedding in a dress shop before & now that I have I wish more weddings would start this way. I met up with Tara & her friend Emma at the Catherine Francis bridal boutique while Tara was being laced into her gorgeous wedding dress. Not only did it mean a very relaxed start, but the light was fantastic, particularly upstairs. Tara was in her dress & ready so quickly we had time to spare to have a glass of prosecco & chat about the day to come. Often getting into the dress can be quite stressful, so having the experts on hand to help with the process made it a totally enjoyable experience! Tara’s father turned up half way through & joined in the party!
The ceremony at Arundel Town Hall was only a couple of streets away so we all walked, which gave me the chance to get some lovely shots, not only of them all walking through some very picturesque parts of Arundel, but it also meant they had a chance to chat & laugh, which always makes for great shots. There’s so much energy at this point in any wedding that as an Arundel Town Hall wedding photographer I love to take advantage of these moments to get some beautiful shots of the bride, sometimes laughing & chatting, sometimes quiet & contemplative, every bride is different. Tara was definitely having fun & chatted & laughed with her dad & Emma, all the way to Arundel Town Hall.
There were only 11 people at Tara & James’s Sussex wedding, so not only was it very relaxed, but it was also very intimate. The ceremony was lovely & after some time out on the Arundel Town Hall roof terrace, we all walked through Arundel to the Arundel House restaurant, where Tara & James shared a gorgeous meal with their guests.
Tara & James were able to change things as they wanted them as the day went along, not something you can do at many weddings. It also meant we could go out & do photos any time we wanted, in fact even once we were at the restaurant, when I suggested going to the river & doing some shots, both Tara & James were very happy to get outside & do them. I suspect part of the reason they were so happy to do more shots together is that I like to get couples doing something very normal, like walking & chatting so the photos reflect the real them & not some stylised fashion shoot. The side benefit to the couple is that they get some time to themselves, which can be rare on a wedding day!
This wedding was shot at a wonderful Sussex wedding venue
