Findon Manor wedding photographer
Mary & Mike’s Sussex wedding was always going to be about the people. From the moment I arrived at Mary’s parent’s house where she & all the bridesmaids were getting ready, I knew they were all very close. It was a beautiful summer’s day & the house was in chaos, lots of shouting & laughter in every room. It was also great to be working again with make-up artist Jenna West
I went from there to St Mary’s House where they were to be married. I’d been up to the house a couple of weeks earlier to have a look around & knew it would be amazing. The fifteenth century house has five acres of gardens, which made my job as a Sussex wedding photographer so much easier, as we had plenty of scope for some shots of just Mary & Mike after the ceremony.
The ceremony took place in the Victorian music room which had fantastic light coming through two pillars which Mary walked through to come down the aisle. From there we all spilled out into the gardens for drinks & canapés while I did some group shots & we even managed to do some confetti. The light in the garden was glorious & while I know some Sussex wedding photographers don’t enjoy direct sunlight, I love the clarity & colour it gives my wedding photography when the sun isn’t coming through cloud. I have to work a lot harder to use it, but the results are worth it.
While guests started heading off, I got some shots of just Mary & Mike in the garden, they then piled in to the vintage Rolls to head off to the wonderful Sussex wedding venue Findon Manor. Once there everyone had a chance to really relax & enjoy the fabulous hotel with it’s large gardens & shady rooms inside.
Once everyone had found their place in the marquee, Mike demonstrated the cocktail kits on all the tables. Having once been a cocktail waiter, he was able to do everything very professionally, which is less than could be said for people on some of the tables!. I was able to get some wonderful shots of guests having fun mixing drinks & enjoying the results.
The speeches were a real highlight, there was loads of laughter & heckling before we moved in to Findon Manor itself for the first dance with the excellent Sunshine Soul Revue.
I must thank Mike’s best man Rob for all his help during the day, & Jonny, Mary’s brother, as well as Polly and all the other bridesmaids who made the day so special. I’m very pleased that I’ll be photographing Polly’s wedding, so I’ll be meeting them all again!
