Farbridge Barn Wedding – wedding photographer West Dean
Vicky & Eliot’s Sussex Farbridge Barn wedding was one of those weddings that was fun from start to finish. All their friends & family pitched in either before the day, or on the day itself. I know Vicky’s sister and chief bridesmaid Alex, did loads including making the cake! The theme was après ski with all the decorations at Farbridge on theme. In particular I liked the flowers in old ski boots of Vicky’s! During the day, we had a few drops of rain, though nothing we couldn’t cope with, and while we did a big group shot of everyone we even had a small amount of snow! Good to see the weather was on theme too!
I started with Vicky at her parent’s house where it was all calm, though with lots of laughter as everyone got ready. I then headed over to where Eliot was having a pre wedding drink with his groomsmen & any early guests at The White Hart Inn. It’s always great being in the pub with the groom, all the guys look so much more relaxed than they do if I photograph them getting ready. Better in my opinion as a Sussex wedding photographer to take shots of them at this point than try to get some shots of them dressing beforehand.
Once Eliot & his groomsmen were ready we headed to the church in readiness for Vicky arriving. I love the shot of Eliot standing ready for Vicky’s entrance, a mixture of nervousness and expectancy on his face. Music was an important part of Vicky & Eliot’s service. Vicky had Songbird by Fleetwood Mac as her entrance song, a childhood dream. They then had The Beach Boys God Only Knows playing while they signed the register & When I’m Sixty Four by the Beatles for their exit, all of which worked brilliantly.
Farbridge Barn was wonderful, the decorations made it Vicky & Eliot’s own & the food by Simon the chef was exquisite as usual. Despite the brief snow & a little bit of rain, we managed to do some lovely shots outside & had time to admire a beautiful rainbow in the field behind Farbridge.
Here are a few lovely words Vicky wrote about my role on their day…..
“Neil was nothing but brilliant through the whole event. It started about a month before when we had a Skype call with him to run through the details of the day and he gave us the benefit of his experience over some of our timings.
On the day itself Neil totally let us have the day we wanted and was very patient with us – trying to organise friends and family is a bit like herding cats! The shots he got are very natural and even a spot of rain became an asset in the pictures.”
