I’ve been looking forward to writing this Cissbury Barns wedding photographer – Teri and Ben’s wedding blog post for such a long time. It was one of my favourite weddings of the year, a wonderful wedding at a beautiful venue, with a gorgeous couple, Teri and Ben.
Meet the Wonderful Couple
I knew it would be a great wedding from the moment I first talked to Teri. It’s the sort of wedding you look forward to all year as a Sussex wedding photographer. Teri was so full of energy and excitement about how the day was going to be. Teri and Ben live in Australia, so our initial contact was over Skype. However, we were able to meet up just after Christmas at Cissbury Barns to have a chat through arrangements for the big day!

I started at Ego Hair with Teri and her bridesmaids, having their hair and makeup done in the top room of the salon. It was great that they had the room to themselves, I was able to settle in, getting some great photographs of them talking and laughing while they got ready for the day. I can always tell how the wedding day will go from that time with the bride and bridesmaids, and after being at the salon I knew it was going to be fantastic!
Once everyone was ready we headed back to Teri’s family home where I got some really relaxed photographs of Teri with her family. I particularly love those shots as they show Teri with her mum and dad in a very emotional and lovely environment before we all headed to the church. It was there I met Edd who was doing the video, he was a pleasure to work with, you can check out the video he did for Teri and Ben here.
The Wedding Ceremony
When I arrived at the church, Ben was completely calm, though I did get a few shots of him looking pensive before Teri arrived! The light at St Andrew’s church was amazing, I was able to get some gorgeous photographs on a long lens, with a shallow depth of field, of Teri and Ben in pools of light at the alter and as they walked back through the church as they left. Once outside with some slightly crazy wind blowing everyone’s hair everywhere, I got some wonderful photographs of Teri and Ben being congratulated. There were so many friends and family that wanted to hug and say hi that I found myself shooting a lot more at this point than I do at most weddings! I really enjoyed getting these photos, there was so much energy to them, the fun and joy of the moment is written on everyone’s faces.

Once at Cissbury Barns, I was able to take Teri and Ben off and get some beautiful photographs of the two of them before they headed back to be with their guests. As a Cissbury Barns wedding photographer, I knew some great spots to take them to get the best photographs. The day was lovely, with a totally relaxed feel. Teri had arranged everything to perfection, though I expected nothing less after talking it all through with her beforehand!
In the evening, the light across the South Downs was so amazing I just had to ask Teri and Ben if they’d like to go out and take advantage of it. We got some wonderful photographs of the two of them together looking so natural and happy in each other’s company. It wasn’t just the light that made those moments so wonderful, it was the way they are together. Truly a couple that were made to be together.
