Sussex has a wonderful array of barns to choose from for your wedding venue. They have many advantages, not least of all the space, & in particular for me as a Sussex wedding photographer, the light! Because of the flint walls a lot of wonderful soft light gets knocked around, particularly at some of the best barn weddings such as Farbridge. The rustic setting, often in great locations in the heart of the Sussex countryside mean they have a particular feel to them, suiting relaxed vintage feel weddings, though I’ve shot everything from modern ski themed weddings to Indian weddings at barn wedding venues.
Upwaltham Barns is another excellent barn wedding venue, this time in two separate barns for the ceremony & reception & similarly to Farbridge, it’s set in plenty of beautiful Sussex countryside. It’s easy to head out for some lovely shots of just the bride & groom, particularly as you won’t want to be away from your guests for long.
Often set right away from towns & villages it means you can party until late & have the sense of being out in the middle of nowhere, yet most wedding barn venues have gorgeous onsite accommodation for quite a few of your guests. plenty of parking often comes as standard too, which although only a small point, is significant.
Check out some of the barn weddings I’ve shot, over in my blog.
